Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, briefly a contender for the GOP presidential nomination, just endorsed former rival Mitt Romney for the spot.
Much is already being made about how this is a belwether of the coming race: Establishment-backed Romney v. insurgent Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
What I found interesting was the single foreign policy reference in Pawlenty’s statement. My bold:
Abroad, the standing of the United States appears uncertain and adrift under the failed leadership of a president who prefers chastising allies to condemning foes.
Make no mistake: This election will turn on the economy.
But to the degree foreign policy will play a role, it looks like Republicans — the entire party — will hinge their attack on President Obama’s differences with Israel.
