The fall television has arrived! It’s a bit early for most of the new show premieres but tonight check out former Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar as she returns to the small screen in The CW’s Ringer after years of making crappy horror flicks and Scooby-Doo movies.
She will be playing a dual role, which is only fair to us Gellar-starved fans. Buffy went off the air in 2003 for chrissakes! We deserve more than one Gellar onscreen to reward our patience.
The reviews thus far have been mixed but the venerable Grey Lady has weighed in and commented:
“Ringer” isn’t quite like anything else on CW — it’s closer to the summer-filler series “The Lying Game” on ABC Family or the new nighttime soap “Revenge” on ABC — and its glimmers of humor and the quirky ways it works the specter of Bridget’s addiction into the plot make it worth keeping an eye on.
Okay, hardly a rave but I’ll take it.
Here’s hoping that this new show will signal the career renaissance that all of us Buffy diehards have been waiting for.
