Remember the Emmys? Yeah that award show that was pretty much a real-life ad for Modern Family?
Well, it seems like Sarah Hyland, who plays troubled teen Haley Dunphy on the hilarious ABC sitcom, didn’t have to win an Emmy to create headlines, all she had to do was make fun of the red dress Lea Michele wore to the awards show.
Hyland appeared on E!’s Fashion Police with Joan Rivers and shared her opinion about Lea’s looks:
“”She sticks out her collarbone to make her look skinnier and she sticks out her lips.”
“How dare she?!” said angered Glee fans, who bombarded Hyland’s twitter with insults and accusations of jealousy.
Apparently the comments made their way all the way to Lea, who told US Magazine: “I gotta be honest. It hurt my feelings a little bit, I really think the message of today is that women should motivate and empower women, and so that’s why I’m honored to be a part of today.”
True talk, I guess.
Hyland decided to walk back her comments. On Saturday she tweeted: “I did not intend for my comments to be taken in a malicious way… In no way am I jealous of Lea Michelle.” She added: “Congrats Lea. U know how to work the red carpet. I can’t take it as seriously as you. That’s all I wanted to show on FP. It’s strange to me… I don’t like the red carpet. I feel silly. So props to her for knowing what she’s doing and enjoying it.”
She also tweeted: ” I did hate [her] dress. Called her ass great. Did you all hear that one?'”
I think that is the difference between Modern Family and Glee in a nutshell.
