Leonard Nimoy, better known as Spock, announced that he will no longer attend Star Trek conventions. He made the announcement while attending a convention (ha!) in Rosemont, Ill., a Chicago suburb. The convention celebrated the 45th anniversary of the airing of the original show.
Nimoy talked about his life and career, and thanked his fans and other “trekkies” for the support they gave him over the years. He received a lot of love from fans, many of them flashing the famous “Live long and prosper” vulcan greeting that Nimoy famously based on the Jewish priestly blessing.
Nimoy was 35 when he first donned the Vulcan ears, alongside another fellow Jewish actor, William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise.
