(JTA) — Tunisia has issued an international arrest warrant against the widow of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
The warrant is reported to be over alleged corruption involving a school that Suha Arafat founded in 2007 in Tunis, the Carthage International School.
Arafat was stripped of her Tunisian citizenship in 2007, less than a year after receiving it for the second time, and left the country. She reportedly lives in Malta.
Arafat told the French news agency AFP that she is "a victim of the Tunisian dictatorship." She said she has not officially been informed of the charges, but that she will fight them vigorously.
She is the former secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which was based in Tunisia from 1982 to 1994.
