(JTA) — Rabbi Marla Feldman has been named director of Women of Reform Judaism.
Feldman, currently the director of development for the Union of Reform Judaism, will take her new position in January. She previously served as director of the Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism and the URJ Social Action Department.
Feldman has facilitated the Reform movement’s disaster relief efforts for the past nine years, raising more than $8 million for disaster relief in North America and throughout the world, including the movement’s Nothing But Nets Campaign to provide mosquito nets to refugees in Africa. Feldman helped lead the Reform movement’s relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina via the URJ’s Jacob’s Ladder project.
"Reform Jewish women have a significant place in Jewish life around the world, and I am confident that our voice will continue to inspire and enrich our community and the world at large," Feldman said in a statement.
