Liev Schreiber has just landed his first role as a series regular. The actor is set to star in the new Showtime drama pilot “Ray Donovan.” The show will revolve around Schreiber’s title character, a fixer for Los Angeles’ elite. In an original twist, he can’t seem to manage his own family despite being able to solve his clients’ problems.
Previously, Schreiber has been leery of the time commitment television work entails. “I hadn’t done any television, not because I was against television, but mostly I was afraid of the contracts,” he said before starting a four episode stint on “CSI.” “I have kind of a two-month attention span and I figured if I get locked into one of those, I would be dead.”
Fortunately for Schreiber, the pay cable season is far shorter than the twenty-two episode arcs of network shows. Hopefully, he can sustain interest in the project for at least ten shows. [Deadline]
