WASHINGTON (JTA) — A collection of national Jewish organizations has joined a get-out-the-vote campaign for the 2012 election.

The Get Out the Vote 2012 campaign is a nonpartisan guide to assist Jewish community organizations and individuals with advice on promoting voter registration drives and to educate voters about the election.

The list of groups participating includes the Union for Reform Judaism, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

Rabbi David Saperstein, director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, in a statement released Wednesday called the guide "an invaluable tool to educate voters and encourage higher voter participation in November."

"There is clearly so much at stake in the 2012 presidential and congressional elections, including vital political, economic, and moral issues important to all Americans and the Jewish community in particular," he said.
