NEW YORK (JTA) – Jews in Turkey and the United States are protesting a Turkish shampoo advertisement that uses Hitler footage.

The ad features a clip of Hitler delivering an impassioned speech with a voice-over urging men to use Biomen shampoo.

“If you are not wearing women’s dress, you shouldn’t be using women’s shampoo either!” the dubbed-over Hitler says.

The Anti-Defamation League called the ad campaign “disgusting and deplorable” and urged the Turkish government to do the same. The Turkish Jewish community demanded an apology from the shampoo company and said that using Hitler, “the most striking example of cruelty and savagery,” to sell shampoo is unacceptable, the Washington Post reported.

“This video is just the latest example of the use of Holocaust imagery in some countries to sell commercial products, which has contributed to the trivialization of and desensitization to the unparalleled horrors of the Holocaust,” said ADL National Director Abraham Foxman. “There can never be any justifiable purpose for using the images of Hitler, Nazis or any other depiction of the Nazi killing machine to sell products or services.”
