The popular touring festival will make its way to the Holy Land — on August 20-22, 2013 at Tel Aviv’s HaYarkon Park.

In a video posted to the festival’s official website, festival creator and  “Jane’s Addiction” singer Perry Farrell explained his decision to bring the festival to Tel Aviv, saying that in a recent visit to Israel he saw an “international music community that listens to everything we all listen to, but the artists weren’t traveling there so it was an opportunity.”

The festival was launched by Farrell as a farewell tour for his band. It moved all over North America, was cancelled in 1997 and revived in 2003. In the last two years it set camp in Chicago as a weekend event, which is now expected to serve as the festival’s U.S. home for years to come. In addition, the festival is also going international — with versions already held in Chile and Brazil. And… next year it will be Tel Aviv’s turn.

Farrell described Tel Aviv as a “sexy city,” adding, “Talk about the after party!”
