JERUSALEM (JTA) — A long-range Grad rocket fired from Gaza destroyed one home and seriously damaged another in the southern Israeli city of Netivot.
The homes were hit with one rocket in the early Sunday morning attack. In the home that was destroyed, a resident saved himself by running into a bathroom with a concrete ceiling, Ynet reported. The rest of the house fell down around him, according to the report.
Three people suffered from shock in the attack. Netivot, which is located between Gaza and Beersheba, also had been hit Friday morning by two rockets.
A second rocket landed in Beersheba but did not cause any damage. Six people suffered from shock in the attack.
Following the attacks, school was canceled Sunday in Beersheba, as well as in two other southern Israeli cities, Ashdod and Omer.
Since the beginning of 2012, more than 455 rockets hit have Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces. In the first nine days of September, more than 10 rockets have hit southern Israel, also triggering alarms in nearby communities.
