JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "see eye-to-eye" on the Iran threat and U.S.-Israel ties.
Barak made his remarks in a statement Saturday night following a 90-minute meeting with Netanyahu at which they agreed to continue working together to overcome Israel’s security threats, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Netanyahu reportedly called in Barak for the meeting to reprimand him over recent meetings with U.S. officials.
Barak’s statement said that he and Netanyahu "see eye-to-eye" on every aspect of the Iranian threat, as well as "the relationship with the United States under the Prime Minister’s leadership," according to the Post.
Barak met several weeks ago with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who remains close to President Obama after serving as his chief of staff, and U.S. National Security Advisor Tom Donilon.
Israel’s Channel 2 reported last week that Netanyahu accused Barak of trying to harm the relations between Netanyahu and the Obama administration.
