SIGN UP FOR THE JTA DAILY BRIEFING

This week in Drake: The newly graduated rapper took to the podium at the Jarvis Collegiate Institute in Toronto last Friday and finally received his high school diploma.

In addition, Drizzy had a chance to speak to current students and encourage them to “follow through.”

“It’s not necessarily about the books that you’ll read or the science or math equations that you’ll do, because you may end up taking a path in life where a lot of the things that you’ll learn you can’t necessarily fully apply,” he told the students. “What this is about today, for all of you, is about the art of following through.”

Drake, who dropped out of high school while filming “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” dedicated five months to studying and eventually tweeted his impressive result: “97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life.”

“I can honestly say that, this piece of paper, I’d like to dedicate to my mother, because she’s a retired teacher and always wanted me to graduate. And I think I’ll sleep a little better tonight knowing that I found a way to follow through.”
