(JTA) — The New York Stock Exchange marked its sixth annual Israel Day.
Senior Israeli and American Jewish leaders opened trading at the exchange on Tuesday in the presence of senior Israeli officials, Jewish leaders and guests from the America Israel Friendship League.
Israel Day 2012 focused mainly on the strong Israeli presence in "Silicon Alley" in New York, and the cooperation between Cornell University and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa in building the Cornell NYC Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City.
The event came as world attention was focused on the Israeli military’s Operation Pillar of Defense fighting escalated rocket attacks from Gaza.
