JERUSALEM (JTA) — Waze, the Israeli navigation app, was named the best mobile app at the World Mobile Congress.
The 2013 Global Mobile Awards were awarded Tuesday at the gathering in Barcelona. Waze was competing against other apps including Dropbox, Flipboard, Sky Sports’ F1 Companion and Square.
“It takes 40 million drivers to make a great service that impacts the world, and that’s just the beginning. Imagine what we’ll able to do at 100 million,” Waze said in a statement.
Drivers in 110 countries shared 90 million traffic reports using Waze during 2012, according to the 5-year-old company.
