(JTA) — Israeli security forces arrested at least eight Palestinians in riots in southern Jerusalem and in the West Bank.
Palestinians near Armon Hanatsiv, a Jewish neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem, hurled stones at Israeli vehicles, hitting four cars. No one was hurt and police dispersed the protesters.
South of Armon Hanatsiv, dozens staged a rally near Beit Safafa, a village split between the western and eastern sectors of the city. The demonstrators were protesting the construction of a new road leading to West Bank settlements. Police arrested eight people there, according to Army Radio.
In Bili’in, riots broke out after a march attended by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad marking “eight years of resistance” to the security barrier that Israel has erected in the West Bank.
