JERUSALEM (JTA) — Jerusalem Police closed the Temple Mount Plaza after a group of Muslim women confronted Jewish women there.

The Muslims blocked the Jews from visiting the site Wednesday morning by surrounding them and shouting at them, according to reports.

Police intervened and dispersed the women, who returned a short time later with male Muslim worshipers from the Al-Aksa Mosque, who began to demonstrate against the police.

After dispersing the second group, the police closed the area to visitors. The site was scheduled to reopen later in the day.

It was the second time this week that the Temple Mount was closed to visitors. Muslim women on Sunday blocked and demonstrated against Jewish visitors on Sunday, leading to its closure out of fear of violence.

On Monday, Moshe Feiglin, a Knesset member from the Likud party, was prevented from entering the Dome of the Rock and then removed from the Temple Mount.
