‘The Hangover’ almost starred Jake Gyllenaal, Jonah Hill, and more

Bradlely Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis were not on most peoples’ radar back in 2007. Which is probably why the people casting “The Hangover” were initially trying for more famous–and, it jus The first actor associated with the project was Jack Black, who dropped out early on, director Todd Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter. Paul Rudd passed on the movie as well. It’s not hard to imagine those comic actors blacking out in Vegas, but Jake Gyllenhaal in the part ultimately played by Galifianakis? Not so much, although Gyllenhaal had been on the wish list for the first version of the character, which at first was a younger brother, instead of an older brother still living at home. Less of a pretty boy and therefore more credible was another actor who said no: Jonah Hill. Just some (kosher) food for thought when you go see the third installment of “The Hangover,” which comes out May 24th.
