For those who oppose progress on Israel-Palestinian peace talks, fearing the emergence of a Palestinian state, the Middle East will never be quiescent enough to resume talks. On the other hand, those who are committed to finding an accommodation between Israelis and Palestinians ought to learn from the saying attributed to Rahm Emanuel: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. It’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
