JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Palestinian brothers were arrested in the attack on a 9-year-old girl in the West Bank settlement of Psagot.

The Israel Defense Forces apprehended the brothers in their West Bank village of El Bireh, located several hundred yards from the girl’s home, on Monday.

Yediot Achronoth reported that the IDF found a knife smeared with blood from the victim, Noam Glick, near the scene of the attack.

Noam was attacked on Saturday night while standing on the porch of her home. She was treated at Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem for wounds at the base of her neck, across her chest and on her ear. Shots also were fired during the incident, according to reports.

Following the attack, Israeli soldiers found a breach in the settlement’s fence. Psagot is located north of Jerusalem and adjacent to Ramallah, the seat of the Palestinian Authority.

On Monday, P.A. President Mahmoud Abbas referred to the stabbing during a meeting in Ramallah with several left-wing Israeli members of Knesset but did not directly condemn it.
