The last full-service kosher restaurant on the Lower East Side is facing eviction, according to thelodownny.com, a website that chronicles the rapidly changing downtown quarter, once the home of millions of Jewish immigrants.
An eviction notice has been posted at Noah’s Ark Deli, at 399 Grand St., reported thelodownny, which had earlier received a tip that staff had been told to apply for unemployment insurance.
No one answered The Jewish Week’s call on Tuesday afternoon at dinnertime and a recording said no messages would be accepted.
Of course, the LES still boasts kosher-style restaurants, like Katz’s Deli. Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery is under kosher supervision but offers a more limited menu. Noah’s Ark, according to its website, was under the supervision of the Star-K.
