JERUSALEM (JTA) — Holocaust education will begin in Israel as early as first grade, the country’s education minister said.
Shai Piron said during an official visit to Poland that his new plan would call for study of the Holocaust in every grade beginning in the first grade rather than 11th grade prior to a school visit to Holocaust sites in Poland, as it does now, Israel’s Channel 2 reported.
The plan was put together with the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial and museum. It will be unveiled in the coming months, according to the Times of Israel.
