I take profound objection to your inclusion in Letters of “Pew and Jewish Humor” (Oct. 18). The suggestion to replace the rabbi’s Shabbat sermon with a 15-minute standup comedy is ludicrous and insults the sacred spirit of the Shabbat.
An ecumenical weekend with Guest Rabbi Rosie O’Donnell or Chris Rock? I hope the author of this unfortunate suggestion is not serious. How about giving our distinguished clergy better training in public address and communication? How about shorter sermons with less repetition? How about an occasional guest rabbi or guest speaker? But Rosie O’Donnell or Chris Rock? And who is deciding that this nonsense is worthy of publication?
