JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Air Force struck Gaza terrorist infrastructure in retaliation for mortar fire on Israeli soldiers near the Israel-Gaza border.

On Tuesday, Israeli military jets hit a weapons manufacturing facility and two tunnels designed for use in terrorist activities in southern Gaza, and a site used to launch terrorist activities in northern Gaza, the Israeli military said.

Earlier in the day, mortar fire was aimed at Israeli troops operating near the Israel-Gaza security fence. No soldiers were injured or killed in the attack.

“Attempts to attack soldiers will not, by any means, be tolerated by the IDF,” Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, the IDF spokesman, said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

Also Tuesday, two Israeli soldiers were wounded on the border with Lebanon while attempting to destroy an explosive device in a planned demolition.
