(JTA) — The fashion clothing chain H&M has withdrawn a sleeveless top depicting a skull inside a Star of David.
The man’s vest was removed from the market after “feedback” from angry shoppers, an H&M spokesman told the London Jewish Chronicle. The Swedish-based company has locations in 53 countries, including the United States and Israel.
“Please accept our most sincere apologies that this has caused offense,” an H&M spokesman told the Times of Israel, where a blogger first alerted readers to the existence of the article of clothing. “We understand the criticism and in response to this have decided to remove the T-shirt from all stores with immediate effect.”
Last year, the clothing retailer stopped selling a Native American-inspired headdress after an Ojibwa-Mohawk woman spoke out against it as offensive, according to the Huffington Post.
