JERUSALEM (JTA) — Houston-based Noble Energy signed a prospective $15 billion deal to supply natural gas to Jordan from an Israeli reservoir.
Noble signed the non-binding letter on behalf of the Leviathan natural gas reservoir and its partner, the Delek Drilling and Avner Oil of the Delek Group. The gas will be supplied to the Jordanian national power corporation.
The deal is worth about $15 billion, Reuters reported, citing an unnamed industry official.
The reservoir, located off the coast of northern Israel in the Mediterranean Sea, holds about 22 trillion cubic feet of gas. It was discovered in 2010.
A final agreement will be completed later this year.
