Matti Friedman is a rare modern-day hero for having the courage, as a veteran AP reporter, to tell the emperor that he has no clothes, by exposing the anti-Israel bias that he personally experienced at AP, present in almost all mainstream media (“When Journalists Are The Story,” Between The Lines, Dec. 19).
There is no question that decades of such media bias, amplified by high school and college educators, and others, have significantly weakened support for Israel especially among our youth.
I urge The Jewish Week, our Jewish newspaper of record, to translate the “sorrow if not alarm” that publisher Gary Rosenblatt expressed over Friedman’s revelations, into courageous leadership to help reverse the irrevocable damage being done to Israel and American Jews by the mainstream media.
