WASHINGTON (JTA) — Jack Moline, a prominent Conservative rabbi, was named executive director of the Interfaith Alliance, a group that champions religious liberties and church-state separation.
“We will not lose any momentum as we continue to protect faith and freedom, challenge extremism and build common ground,” Moline said in statement issued Tuesday by the Interfaith Alliance, which noted that Moline’s appointment follows the retirement of its longtime president, the Rev. Welton Gaddy.
Moline, who led Agudas Achim Congregation in Alexandria, Va., from 1987 to 2013, was until November the director of the National Jewish Democratic Council. He is known for his close ties to the Obama administration.
Moline has been involved with the alliance, established in 1994, for years, chairing its board of directors from 2006 to 2008.
The rabbi has also held senior positions with the Conservative movement’s Rabbinical Assembly.
