JERUSALEM (JTA) — At least seven people were killed and dozens injured in a collision involving a bus, a truck carrying a tractor and a private car in the Negev.
The accident on Tuesday afternoon was declared a mass casualty event, mobilizing all medical teams in the area and more than a dozen firefighting teams.
The bus was filled with passengers, with some of the injured trapped in the vehicle, according to reports. The passengers were reported to be elderly Israeli Muslims, mostly women, who were returning from praying at the Al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Helicopters also were sent to the site to evacuate injured bus passengers.
