JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian man during an arrest raid, the second such incident in two days.

Faleh Abu Maria was shot as soldiers entered his home near Hebron on Wednesday night to arrest his son, according to the Israel Defense Forces. Abu Maria had come downstairs to see what was happening when he became embroiled in a clash with soldiers.

A family member attempted to strangle one of the soldiers, and one of Abu Maria’s sons was shot in the leg in response, the IDF said. In the ensuing fight, Palestinians threw rocks at the soldiers, and the soldiers fired, hitting Abu Maria in the chest, Haaretz reported, citing Palestinian eyewitnesses. He died of his wounds in a hospital.

Two of Abu Maria’s sons also were being treated at the hospital for their wounds.

On Tuesday night, Israeli soldiers killed Mohammed Ahmed Alauna, 21, in a clash over an arrest near the northern West Bank city of Jenin. Palestinians threw firebombs at the soldiers and the soldiers opened fire in response, hitting Alauna in the chest, according to the IDF and Palestinian sources.
