(JTA) — Five Palestinians were shot and wounded by Israeli troops during riots in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources said.
In the West Bank town of Kafr Qaddum, witnesses told the Maan news agency that Israeli troops on Friday shot and injured three Palestinians, including a 9-year-old. Ayat Zahi was shot in the hand while standing on the porch of her house in the area where clashes were taking place, Murad Shtewei, a local Palestinian who organizes what he calls resistance activities against Israeli troops, told Maan. She was taken to the hospital in moderate condition.
Across the West Bank and Gaza, Palestinians frequently stage riots on Fridays, often after praying at mosques.
Also in the Kafr Qaddum rioting, two men suffered foot injuries.
In Bilin, a 10-year-old boy was injured by a rubber bullet in the head, residents told Maan.
In Gaza, according to residents, a Palestinian was shot in the foot with live fire when clashes erupted with Israeli forces near the Nahal Oz checkpoint, Maan reported.
Clashes also broke out at the Karni crossing, the al-Bureij refugee camp and in the al-Faraheen area of Khan Yunis, where no injuries were reported.
