Palestinian arrested in stabbing of haredi man in Jerusalem

The victim, 26, was lightly injured in the attack in a haredi Orthodox area of the city that has seen several stabbings in recent years.

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A haredi Orthodox man was injured in a stabbing attack in central Jerusalem.

The man, 26, was stabbed in the shoulder on Haneviim Street in a haredi area of the city , according to the Times of Israel. He reportedly was hospitalized in stable condition with a light injury.

The assailant, who is about 20, was apprehended and taken in for questioning, according to police and the Israeli army. He is a Palestinian from the West Bank, according to reports. He reportedly tossed his knife while running from police and army officers.

The street where the stabbing took place runs from the center of Jerusalem to the Old City.
