Those Orthodox who claim the “anti-Semitic stench emanating from Trump associates and supporters is ‘a rose fragrance’ heralding Trump’s election as signaling “the era of the birth pangs of the Messiah,” are living in a Neanderthal world (Editor’s column, Jan. 27).
Trump is unworthy of belief on any subject. A case in point is during his campaign he used the term “America First.” I am old enough to remember the 1930s with Charles Lindbergh, Henry Ford Sr. and Father Coughlin, a disgraced clergyman, all part of what was called “America First.” They were notoriously anti-Semitic and opposed America’s entry into the war against Hitler.
Trump used the term “America First” during his campaign, though the Anti-Defamation League asked him not to. He repeated the phrase in his Inaugural speech, making it clear he did not care.
