JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli troops as he attempted to stab an Israeli soldier stationed in the West Bank.
The incident took place Monday morning at the Gitai junction, near the West Bank city of Ariel. The junction is also located near the Barkan Industrial Park where two Israeli factory workers were murdered last week by a Palestinian co-worker.
Also on Monday, an Israeli Supreme Court justice told police that he narrowly escaped an attack by three Palestinians near his West Bank home.
Justice David Mintz told police that three Palestinians riding in a car with Palestinian Authority license plates blocked his car with theirs and came after him carrying hammers near the Dolev settlement in the central West Bank.
The justice was able to flee the scene and come to his job at the court, where he was scheduled to give a statement to police.
The incident took place on Route 463, which has been the scene in recent weeks of several rock-throwing incidents against cars with Israeli license plates.
