In your story, “JTS Handling Of Title IX Allegation Under Scrutiny” (Aug. 2), a woman alleges that a recently matriculated JTS student date-raped her six years before he enrolled at the seminary, and is upset that the school didn’t do anything. Six years? And now she comes forward? And can’t understand why the school rightfully isn’t interested in taking any action against a student for something that happened long before he was a student?
I don’t understand this mentality. If this happened six years ago, then she should have filed a complaint then with the police. That’s why we have a police department. And why was this front-page news? To smear the fine reputation of JTS? That’s something that I would expect of The New York Times.
