The Army Radio station raised 220 million Shekels ($1.2 million) for the Soldiers Welfare Committee in a day-long Independence Day radio “marathon” yesterday. The committee provides recreational and sports facilities for service personnel.
Listeners telephoned pledges during the program of songs and other entertainment. Contributions were also made by many of the fans who attended the Independence Day soccer match between the National Football Team and the Army Team at Ramat Gan Stadium.
