Some 1, 500 Israeli Christian Arabs began returning to Israel today after three-day pilgrimages to Jordan where they toured Christian holy places for the Easter holiday and visited with relatives. The pilgrims, who began crossing through Mandelbaum Cate here this morning, included numerous diplomats and members of the clergy.
Hotels in Israel were also filled to capacity with Christian pilgrims who flocked to Nazareth churches and other holy places in this country. At Haifa port yesterday, two of the world’s largest ships, the France and the Leonardo Da Vinci, arrived with hundreds of holiday tourists.
