Michael G. Tress, president of Agudath Israel of America, who is now in Vienna organizing aid to Orthodox Jewish refugees from Hungary, has been refused visas by the Hungarian and Rumanian governments. No reason for denials of Mr. Tress’ plans to visit those countries was given by the consulates of either government.
Approximately 10 percent of the Jewish refugees from Hungary would like to emigrate to the United States, Mr. Tress today told the United States Ambassador, with whom he conferred. The Agudath Israel leader urged the American Embassy to increase the number of American visas being issued to the Jewish refugees.
