The number of Congressional candidates signing pledges to oppose United States arming of the Arab states now totals 100 and is expected to increase substantially before the end of the week, it was learned here today. Two additional candidates for the Senate who have pledged themselves against the Administration’s policy of arming the Arabs are Samuel W. Yorty, Democrat of California, and John H. Carroll, Democrat of Colorado.
A previous listing by the American Zionist Council for Public Affairs last week showed that 25 candidates had signed the pledge. The new returns list 75 more. They include 66 Democrats, 31 Republicans, and others representing minor parties. Replies are still coming in and are expected until election day.
