A group of 100 United Hias Service-sponsored migrants for resettlement in the United States left here today on a chartered jet flight to Kennedy Airport in New York. James P. Rice, executive director of the worldwide Jewish migration agency, who is here on an inspection trip of its overseas operations, said this is the largest group of United Hias migrants ever to fly to the United States on one plane.
The 100 Jewish men, women and children from Eastern Europe are Joining relatives in the U.S. from whom they have been separated for many years–in come cases since the beginning of World War II. The newcomers will be resettled with the aid of local Jewish communities in New York City, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Memphis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis.
