More than 100 delegates, representing 25 communities throughout the State, attended the annual convention of the New Jersey Branch of the United Synagogue of America. Judge William M. Lewis, of Philadelphia, guest speaker, urged adherence to ideals of philanthropy, religion and Zionism.
Other participants in the day’s discussions included Dr. Charles I. Hoffman, of Oheb Shalom Synagogue of this city, who was re-elected president of the state branch; Rabbis Julius Silberfeld and Leon S. Lang, also of Newark; Rabbi Eugene Kohn, Bayonne; Nachman Arnoff, Camden; E. A. Levy and Herbert Parzen, Montclair; and Max Davidson, Perth Amboy. The convention also was addressed by Louis J. Moss, president of the United Synagogue; Rabbi S. M. Cohen, executive director; and Rabbis Harold Eckstein and Simon Greenberg, of Philadelphia.
