More than 1,000 Jewish refugees from Italy and France have been admitted during the last few weeks to Switzerland, it was reported here today by the Hias-Ica Emigration Association. A list containing the names of these refugees was transmitted to the Hias-Ica here by its office in Lisbon.
The Hias office in New York today announced that on the basis of a special U.S. Treasury license, it is able to transmit funds from American residents to their relatives and friends in Switzerland for living expenses and to enable their release from refugee camps. The announcement said that the Hias has lists containing the names of about 20,000 Jewish refugees now living in Switzerland.
