More than 1,000 persons participated in a pilgrimage today to the grave of Vladimir Jabotinsky, in New Montefiore Cemetery at Farmingdale, L. I., on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the death of the founder of the Revisionist Zionist movement.
Among the participants were former members of the Jewish Legion, members of the Jewish War Veterans, and a color guard of the Betar Revisionist Zionist organization. Wreaths were laid on the grave by delegations from Israel, South Africa, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Rumania and Hungary. Biblical passages and excerpts from the writings of Jabotinsky were recited at the graveside.
Rabbis in a number of synagogues throughout the country yesterday devoted portions of their sermons to the life and writings of Jabotinsky, and called for the fulfillment of the request in his last will that his remains be transferred to Israel. Mr. Jabotinsky died in this country in 1940, while on amission here to enlist recruits for the Jewish Legion.
