A special $10,000 emergency contribution to aid famine victims in Ethiopia has been granted by the Jewish Community Endowment Fund here, with the unanimous approval of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma counties.
The funds will be utilized by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee which, along with Catholic, Protestant and non-sectarian agencies, has been providing humanitarian assistance to disaster victims in Ethiopia and other countries. To date, the JDC has shipped 70 tons of new clothing, cloth and medical supplies valued at $500,000 to Ethiopia.
