Loans up to 10,000 marks will be granted to persons ousted after December, 1937, from professions or agricultural or trade pursuits as a result of political, religious or racial persecution, provided “they need this money to rehabilitate themselves and cannot obtain it in any other way,” the Bremen Senate decided this week.

The ordinance, incorporated within the framework of restitution legislation, is the first such ruling to be approved in western Germany. All applications for such loans will be investigated by a special committee.
