More than $10,000 was realized for the Hebrew University from the concert given at Carnegie Hall last night by the American Jewish Physicians Committee, at which Dr. Nathan Ratnoff is president. Nearly 3,000 people attended. The concert also marked the registration at the university of 178 bew students. Matriculation exercises were taking place on Mount Scopus alomost coincidentally with the concert.
A gift of $5,000 to the hebrew University from the estate of the late Simon Russek was announced yesterday by Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University. The gift, which was distributed through the Palestine Endownment Funds, will be used toward the general university budget.
Plans are also afoot to launch a campaign in Poland to organize a Society of Friends of the Heberw University there. Aron Mendel Schneerson, financial secretary of the university, left Jerusalem for Warsaw to work on the project.
