A total of 10,000,000 persons visited Israeli pavilions in 18 international fairs and exhibitions last year, it was disclosed here by J. Dayan, general manager of the Government Fairs and Exhibitions Company.
Mr. Dayan told a press conference that the company’s annual budget of 1,000,000 pounds ($560,000) represented probably the cheapest per capita Israel information and publicity project abroad.
Referring to threats by Arab nations to boycott fairs or exhibitions in which Israel participated, Mr. Dayan reported that such attempts at “blackmail” had little effect and that at well-established fairs. Arab exhibitors took part without trouble despite Israel’s participation.
