The 1,000,000th immigrant to enter Israel since the establishment of the State in 1948, arrived here today.
The announcement by the Jewish Agency executive and the Ministry of the Interior that the number of Israel’s new arrivals passed the 1,000,000-mark, declared that the immigrants came from 79 countries on all continents.
A total of 450,000 immigrants came from Europe; 280,000 from Asia; 250,000 from Africa and 20,000 from the Americas, Australia and New Zealand, the announcement said.
