121 Refugees Barred from Landing at Casablanca

A group of 121 French and Belgian Jewish refugees who have arrived at Casablanca. French Morocco, on a small steamer after many hardships have been refused permission to land, it was reported here today. A number of Belgian Jews, including the relief leader, Ernst Torczyner, have been arrested in unoccupied France and held at St. Cyprien in the Pyrenees. About 1,000 German Jewish children, under the supervision of the OSE, Jewish health society, are stranded in Vichy, unoccupied France.
