Fourteen persons received fines and jail terms up to four months today in connection with renewed disorders in London’s East End yesterday following a Fascist attack on a Communist parade through the Jewish district.
Heavy police details patrolled the Mileen Road section after a man and a child had been thrown bodily through a broken window in rioting after the parade.
As the parade broke up, a group of about 200 youths, said by witnesses to be wearing black handkerchiefs and shouting Fascist slogans, dashed along the road and broke the windows of 15 Jewish shops, snatching merchandise through the windows.
They also set fire to a number of automobiles and injured two shopkeepers.
The Communist parade was in celebration of the routing of a Fascist parade in the East End last Sunday by 250,000 anti-Fascists.
A number of skirmishes occurred in the vicinity of victoria Park, where Blackshirts attacked the parade, throwing fireworks at horses and pelting marchers with refuse and missiles.
A detail of 100 police charged the Fascists with clubs and restored order. The parade proceeded into the park under a hail of missiles. Police barred the Blackshirts from entering the park.
Thousands of anti-Fascists in Edinburgh yesterday prevented Sir Oswald Mosley’s Blackshirt orators form speaking. Disorders occurred in Bedford.
